Fruit Ninja
Ninjas have been reimagined in so many exaggerated and inaccurate ways with one of the most baffling being Fruit Ninja. Despite the title, you are not playing as a ninja made of fruit or even a ninja that consists of a diet solely of fruit. Instead, you are a ninja who is training to be the most dangerous force against fruit since the discovery of fruit bats. You're armed with your trusty blade and you need to cut down every piece of fruit in your path. Whether this will make you a better ninja or not remains to be seen, but at least you become a better smoothie prepper.
About Fruit Ninja
There are devs out there who saw the touchscreen capabilities and wanted to make titles that made the most of them without being too complex. This game is one of those titles and still holds up on mobile and browsers. You don't need a story or even a motivation to play this game as the fruit appears so juicy and bright in front of you. It feels so calming to cut smoothly and merrily through all the different types while wondering if you're getting your five fruit and veg every day.
How to Play
Fruit Ninja is a 2.5D arcade-style game about being a ninja who is slicing fruit using only the mouse. To wield your sword, click and hold the Left Mouse Button. To slice through the fruit, move the cursor while holding through the fruit. If you land a hit, the fruit will be cut in half and splatter juice all over the wall. The goal is to cut as much fruit as you can without missing any and without accidentally cutting non-fruit.
When you start playing, fruit will start flying in front of you. As you cut fruit, you'll earn points which will appear in the left corner. If you cut multiple pieces of fruit with one quick slice, you'll earn a combo bonus. There's also a chance you land a critical hit which is worth 10 points. You can look out for power-up fruit like the Frenzy Banana which will send a surge of fruit flying everywhere. The most notable power-up is the Pomegranate which will challenge you to cut it as many times as you can before it finally breaks. Your strikes will be tracked in the top right corner and if you miss three pieces of fruit, you'll lose. On top of that, there are also bombs that if hit once will immediately end your game.
By playing the different modes, you'll earn EXP for leveling up to earn new power-ups such as Bomb Deflect. You'll also get stars which will unlock different styles of blades for you to wield.
Tips and Tricks
This is not a game you want to play intensely as it's more about technique. Don't always strike the fruit as soon as it comes up, give it a moment to see what follows. Master the difference between long strikes and precision strikes.
Fruit Ninja Game Modes
There are currently three available game modes:
- Classic - Aim for a high score while minding your strikes and the bombs.
- Arcade - Slice as much fruit as possible within the time limit.
- Zen - Don't worry about time, bombs, or points, just slice the fruit.
