Inferno Drift
There are fewer and fewer people who plan to own cars and therefore fewer who know how to drive which is why games like Inferno Drift are becoming more and more escapist. To be fair, it was already in the realm of fantasy by taking place in an inferno. You are a driver who has decided to participate in what may be the most dangerous race in existence, but it also may be some form of punishment. Whenever you crash or fall off the road, you'll respawn at the start to continue the cycle all over again. At least in racing conditions like this one, anything goes.
About Inferno Drift
Racing and car games are popular on their own but the technique of drifting has its own draw and culture surrounding it. With this game, drifting is something that happens as a result of driving and just trying to stay on the road. This means that you'll end up pulling off some pretty sweet drifts as you drive and bump into the other racers on the track. It'll make you feel cool as the longer you're able to maintain the course, the bigger your victory grows. Being able to get rid of the other drivers is a bonus to the experience.
How to Play
Inferno Drive is a top-down 3D driving game about racing a drift car along a track surrounded by fire using the keyboard. To steer the car left or right you just need to tap the Left/Right Arrow Keys. The car will accelerate and use power-ups automatically. The goal is to get as far along the track as possible while eliminating other drivers and collecting coins.
When the race starts, your car will begin driving forward along the track. The more you drive, the more the track will twist and turn for which you'll need to compensate. The track has no borders which means that going over the edge will destroy your car and force you to restart the race. However, this also means that you can bump into opposing cars to try and knock them into the inferno. Be ready for warning signs that will pop up to warn you of sudden changes in the track such as a narrow section that has a higher risk of you driving off the edge.
As you drive, you'll encounter lines of large star coins. Collecting these will build the power-up meter in the top left corner. When it fills up, you'll be rewarded with a random power-up such as projectile weapons or shielding. This will let you take out other racers more easily, netting you points for each one that you do. Once your run ends, all of your points will be tallied filling up a meter at the bottom of the screen. When it fills up, one of the power-ups will receive a boost to effectiveness.
Tips and Tricks
Playing this game is kind of like playing with RC bumper cars, meaning that your and your opponents' cars can bounce around easily. To minimize risk, stick to the middle of the road and aim to never be on the edge of groups. Try to go for coins so that you can jump from power-up to power-up.
