Mirror Wizard
As far as puzzle gimmicks go, mirrors have made numerous appearances in several ways with Mirror Wizard demonstrating another aspect of them. You are playing as a wizard who has mastered the art of self-reflection. Whether this pertains to him being a more well-rounded individual remains to be seen, but it's quite literal in the sense that he can make a reflection of himself. This appears to be the only spell that he has mastered through practice but as you play you'll soon see that it's the only one that he needs to get what he wants in this world.
About Mirror Wizard
Mirrors are all about reflecting lights, beams, and whatever else can be believably reflected, but it can also be about the reflection itself. This is what this game is all about and has created an entire challenge around this concept. It's overall basic and the mechanics are few, but that means that there's little room for error when it comes to the execution of certain maneuvers and sharp timing. You'll have to see both the base and the reflection together as you look for solutions and positions to overcome the challenge at hand and get the wizard to his much-desired magical prize.
How to Play
Mirror Wizard is a 2D puzzle platform game about a wizard and his reflection working together with the keyboard.
Controls
- W/Up Arrow - Jump
- A/Right Arrow - Move Right
- D/Left Arrow - Move Left
- Spacebar/C/U - Teleport
The goal of the game is to collect all of the magical orbs scattered throughout the different levels. All the wizard needs to do is touch the orb with his physical body to beat the level and move on to the next one. There's a Speedrun option on the main menu so you can time your session.
The wizard has a physical body and a magical reflection as indicated by a white outline that spawns directly opposite him. The white outline will remain parallel to him no matter what his position. The reflection is unrestrained by certain laws of physics as it can safely pass through solid objects and hazards. By teleporting, the wizard can move his physical body to wherever his reflection is currently positioned. If the outline is red, teleporting will not be possible. The hazards that pose a threat to the physical wizard are energy spikes and enemies. The former sticks out from the surfaces while the latter patrols sections of the level, moving back and forth. If the wizard touches either, they'll be destroyed and you'll have to try the level again.
Tips and Tricks
The biggest thing of note is that you should never let the reflection's position distract you. The wizard's physical body is the one that's in danger, so make sure you know where it can move and be safe before turning your attention to the reflection's position.
