Stone Smacker
The Legend Of Zelda introduced us to a little dude exploring a huge world and hitting things with a sword which is the foundation for Stone Smacker. You are entering a small fantasy world full of lush green nature and a lot of haphazardly placed barrels and constructed fences. The good news is that you have a sword to play with and it's all you need to get to the treasure at the end. It wasn't made for slaying monsters, but it is strong enough to hit hard objects so that you can clear a path and hopefully become a better swordsman.
About Stone Smacker
When it comes to a short adventure game, it's all about pacing and sometimes we don't want to rush through the action. This game takes its time to introduce you to the mechanics and the overall movement. Your hero moves at a very steady pace which gives you plenty of time to move them into just the right position. It's a fairly forgiving game too, but it can be a headache to reset if you end up making a simple mistake. Still, it serves as a punishment for carelessness and encourages you to think about your actions and make the best moves.
How to Play
Stone Smacker is a 2D top-down adventure puzzle game where you use a sword using the keyboard or mouse. You can use the onscreen UI controls in the corners by clicking on them with the Left Mouse Button if you choose.
Controls
- W - Move Up
- S - Move Down
- A - Move Left
- D - Move Right
- Spacebar - Swing Sword
The goal of each level is to reach the treasure chest at the end. You need to move the stones in a way so that you can create a way forward. If you make a mistake or just want to review your options, hit the Reset Sign with your sword.
Each level is contained by a wide path that leads you to different areas. Each area is filled with bushes, barrels, stones, and pits. Bushes can be destroyed with your sword while barrels and stones can't. Hitting a stone with your sword will send it sliding in a straight line in the direction you hit it. It will keep sliding until it hits a solid object or falls into a pit. Stones are necessary to fill the pits so that you can get over them. If you lock yourself out of ways to hit the stone, remember to hit the Reset Sign.
Tips and Tricks
As far as puzzle games go, this one gives you a lot of time and requires precision. Your character moves a deliberate distance across a square grid, so don't make rash decisions until he comes to a complete stop. Identify the path to the pit and consider the best way to get the stone to it.
